What an installation includes
A propane system is more than the tank. We handle the parts that bring gas safely from the tank to your appliances.
- Choosing a tank size for the appliances you run
- Setting the tank, including crane-truck sets where needed
- Underground gas line from the tank to the house
- Regulators installed and set
- A pressure check and leak test of the whole system before gas is turned on

Where the tank goes
Tank placement follows state and national propane rules on distances from buildings, property lines and sources of ignition, and it also has to work for delivery: our hose is 120 feet long, and the truck needs a route to reach it. The office talks through placement options with you.
New construction
If you are building, call us early. The tank location, the line route and the appliance list are easier to plan before landscaping and hardscape go in. We can work with your builder so gas is ready when the appliances are.

Replacing or switching
If you are moving to American River Gas from another company, a tank that belongs to that company is usually removed and one of ours set in its place, or we can fill a tank you own. Either way, a new customer set-up includes a leak test before the first fill.
Questions
Straight answers
What size tank do I need?
It depends on what the propane runs: heat, water heater, range, dryer or fireplace. Call the office with your appliance list and we will recommend a size.
Do you install underground tanks?
Call the office to discuss your property. We install above-ground tanks and underground gas lines in a variety of sizes.
Why is a leak test required on a new system?
A pressure check and leak test is required for every new installation and new customer set-up, to make sure there are no leaks in the piping before gas is turned on.
