The highest propane share in our area
Lake of the Pines was laid out by developers in the 1960s around a reservoir made by damming Magnolia Creek, with a golf course looping the lake. It sits at about 1,500 feet in Nevada County, yet mail goes to Auburn addresses in the 95602 ZIP code.
The Census counts 1,585 of the community's 2,205 households, about 71.9%, heating with propane. Only about 7% use utility gas. No other community we serve has a higher share, and it means a propane tank is part of almost every home here.

Getting through the gate
The community is normally reached through its main entrance on Magnolia Road, just northeast of Combie Road. From our yard it is about 16 miles and 27 minutes up Highway 49 from Auburn into Nevada County and on to the gate. Delivery inside a gated community depends on paperwork more than distance, so we keep a few things on your account:
- Your street address and lot, plus any gate or access instructions.
- Where the tank sits, especially if it is behind the house or down a slope.
- Whether a side gate or fence needs to be unlatched on route day.
- A phone number for the driver if anything blocks the path.
Smaller lots and tank placement
Homes at Lake of the Pines sit closer together than on the rural parcels outside the gate, so where a tank goes matters. Propane tanks must meet setback distances from buildings, property lines and ignition sources, and underground tanks are an option where a yard is tight or a view matters. We plan the location, set the tank, and run the underground line and regulator to the house. Check your association's rules too before you schedule a new tank.

Keep Full suits a part-time owner
If you split your time between the lake and another home, Keep Full is built for that. We plan fills from outdoor temperatures and your history, so the tank is ready whether you are here or not. If you like to watch the gauge yourself, call when it reads about 30% and we deliver on the route day, usually within a week. The Budget Plan evens out the cost with equal monthly payments billed on the 10th.
Power shutoffs in Nevada County
PG&E estimated about 43,200 Nevada County customers would be affected by its October 2019 Public Safety Power Shutoffs. A full tank keeps a lake home's propane fireplace or wall heater running through the next one, and Keep Full automatic delivery keeps it topped up. CAL FIRE's Fire Hazard Severity Zone map shows the center of the community in the High zone, so keep pine needles and brush raked away from the tank.

Lake of the Pines propane questions
Do you deliver propane in Lake of the Pines?
Yes. We deliver inside the gated community, about 27 minutes from our Newcastle yard. Call (530) 888-7438 to open an account and give us your gate access details.

Can I have an underground tank on a smaller lot?
Often, yes. We look at the lot, the setbacks and access, and recommend above-ground or underground. Check your association's rules as well.
How do I get ready for a power shutoff?
Keep your tank above about 30% during fire season, or let Keep Full automatic delivery do it for you.
