Underground gas lines
American River Gas runs underground gas piping from your propane tank to the house and to outbuildings and other appliances, installs the regulators, and pressure tests the system before gas is turned on.

From the tank to every appliance
We put in the underground piping from tank to house and install the regulators that bring tank pressure down to what your appliances use. The same work extends gas to a shop, barn or pool heater.

Tested before it is used
Every new line and every modification is pressure checked and leak tested before the system goes into service. During a system check we inspect the piping, the shut-off valve for each appliance (one is required within six feet of every gas appliance), sediment traps, the regulators and the tank.

Planning a new line
Tell us where the tank is, what the line needs to reach and what you plan to run. Distance and total appliance load decide the pipe size. If you are adding a new building or appliance, we plan the line so it can carry the extra demand.

Red tags
Any distribution system found unsafe, or not meeting code, is red tagged and cannot be put back into service until the problem is repaired or corrected. Only a qualified technician can complete the repairs and declare the system safe.
Questions
Straight answers
Can you run a line to my detached shop?
Yes. We extend underground gas lines to outbuildings and other appliances, then pressure test the system.
Do I need to be home for the test?
Yes. The technician needs access to the home to complete every step of the system check, including each appliance's shut-off valve.
What does red tagged mean?
It means the system, or part of it, was found unsafe or not up to code, and it stays off until a qualified technician repairs it.
