Propane delivery in Loomis, CA
American River Gas delivers propane in Loomis and the Loomis Basin, about 8 miles and 12 minutes from our Ophir Road yard. Half the households in the 95650 ZIP area use PG&E natural gas, so the area's propane homes are mainly the horse properties and acreage homes in the Basin, not the town center along Taylor Road.

A fruit town that kept its acreage
Loomis started as a railroad stop and went through several names, Placer, Smithville and Pino, before settling on Loomis in 1890. In the early 1900s it was the second-largest fruit-shipping station in Placer County, and the town incorporated in 1984 partly to keep that small-town, packing-shed character. The Fruit Shed Festival still celebrates it.
Around the town lies the Loomis Basin: horse properties, small farms and homes on a few acres off Horseshoe Bar Road and King Road, where the Loomis Basin Equestrian Center sits. Away from the town's gas lines, that is propane country.

What the numbers say
In the 95650 ZIP area, 915 of 5,222 households heat with propane, about 17.5%, while about 50% use utility gas. Inside the Town of Loomis, where the gas lines run, only 198 of 3,041 households heat with propane. So the higher share sits outside the town limits, on the Basin parcels.
In other words, a Loomis address alone does not tell you much. A home a block off Taylor Road may have a gas meter, while a place a mile out on Horseshoe Bar Road runs everything from a tank in the side yard. If you are unsure which you have, look for a tank or call us.
Delivery that fits a Basin property
Loomis is about 12 minutes from the yard. Call the office and it will tell you your delivery day.
- Keep Full: we schedule fills from temperatures and past use. Good for homes that heat and cook with propane.
- Ordering yourself: call at about 30% on the gauge and we usually deliver within a week on the route day. It suits a pool heater or shop tank.
- Budget Plan: equal monthly payments, billed on the 10th, on a May to April year.

Barns, pools and conversions
Basin properties often add buildings over time: a barn, an arena, a guest house, a pool. We run underground gas lines to each, install regulators and pressure test before the first fill. If you are switching a range, dryer or water heater from natural gas to propane, we handle appliance conversions. Tanks are set by crane, leased or customer-owned, and sized to what they feed.
Small farms and businesses
Propane is not only for houses. We deliver commercial propane to businesses and agricultural propane to small farms, nurseries and horse properties in the Basin, with the same Keep Full automatic delivery option as a home account. If a property has several uses, we can set separate tanks or size one tank for the whole load. Call the office to talk through what you run.

Power shutoffs
Loomis was among the Placer County communities in PG&E's October 2019 Public Safety Power Shutoff planning. Keep Full automatic delivery keeps the tank topped up, so a propane fireplace or wall heater that runs without power still has fuel.
Cylinders and new owners
Barbecue and RV cylinders can be refilled at our yard at 10290 Ophir Road, a short drive up I-80. We are open weekdays 8:00 to 4:30, closed noon to 1:00.
If you are buying in the Basin, ask whether the tank is leased or owned, then call us. We leak check before the first delivery. If you smell gas, leave the building first, then call 911 and us from outside.
