City on gas, countryside on propane
Lincoln grew fast as a suburb, and those neighborhoods were built with natural gas: the Census finds only 181 propane-heated households among 20,078 inside city limits. Across the whole 95648 ZIP area, though, 1,074 households heat with propane. Subtract the city and roughly 890 of them are out in the country.
That rural side of Lincoln runs out Garden Bar Road, Wise Road and Mt. Pleasant Road, past ranch land and wineries on the Placer County wine trail, toward Sheridan. Much of it is off the gas main, and that is where most of the ZIP area's propane homes are.

Ranch and farm propane
Out here propane often does more than heat a house. We deliver agricultural and commercial propane as well as residential, and a single property can have a home tank, a shop tank and equipment that runs on propane. Tell us everything the property uses and we will plan tank sizes and delivery around it.
- Keep Full: automatic fills scheduled from outdoor temperatures and your usage, so nobody has to check the gauge.
- Ordering yourself: call when the gauge reads about 30% and we usually deliver within a week on the Lincoln route day.
- Budget Plan: the year's propane in equal monthly payments billed on the 10th, May through April.
Setting tanks on open ground
Rural Lincoln parcels sit on gentler ground than the lots up the hill, which often makes tank placement straightforward. We set tanks by crane, leased or owned, run underground gas lines to houses, shops and barns, install regulators and pressure test before the first fill. If you are building a new home on acreage, call early so the tank location and trench route fit your site plan.
Long gravel drives are common. Keep them passable after winter rain, leave the gate unlocked or give us the gate code, and remember our hose reaches 120 feet.

Power shutoffs in west Placer
PG&E's October 23, 2019 shutoff included the unincorporated areas north and west of Lincoln. Keep Full automatic delivery keeps the tank topped up, so a propane fireplace or wall heater that runs without power still has fuel.
Keep dry summer grass mowed well back from the tank. Lincoln summers are hot, with July highs averaging in the mid 90s.
Getting from Lincoln to our yard

Lincoln was laid out in 1859 by railroad engineer Theodore Judah along the California Central line, and it still sits at about 170 feet on the edge of the valley.
