Propane cylinder & RV refills
You can refill portable propane cylinders, including 20 lb barbecue tanks and RV and trailer cylinders, at our dispenser at 10290 Ophir Road in Newcastle during business hours, Monday through Friday 8:00 to 4:30 (closed noon to 1:00).

Where and when
Our yard is on Ophir Road between Newcastle and Auburn, a short drive from Interstate 80. Bring your cylinder to the office during business hours and we fill it at our dispenser. If you have an unusual cylinder, call ahead at (530) 888-7438 and we will tell you whether we can fill it.

What we fill
We fill barbecue cylinders and RV, trailer and camper cylinders, plus portable cylinders for tools and equipment.

Before you bring it in
For safety, every cylinder is checked before it is filled. Most small cylinders need an overfill prevention device (OPD) valve, recognizable by its triangular handwheel, and a cylinder past its requalification date has to be requalified or replaced before it can be filled. We will tell you if yours needs attention.
- Close the valve and transport the cylinder upright and secured
- Do not leave a filled cylinder in a hot, closed vehicle
- Never store cylinders indoors or in a garage
Refilling your cylinder
When you refill, you keep your own cylinder and have it filled to its proper level. If your home runs on propane too, the refill trip is a good time to ask the office about delivery, tanks or your account.

Where can I get propane refilled near Auburn?
At the American River Gas yard, 10290 Ophir Road in Newcastle, between Newcastle and Auburn. Refills are done during business hours, Monday through Friday 8:00 to 4:30, closed noon to 1:00.
Can you fill my RV?
Yes, we fill RV and trailer cylinders. For a motorhome with a built-in tank, call the office first so we can plan the fill.

Is my old cylinder still good?
Bring it in. We check the valve and date before filling and will tell you if it needs requalification or replacement.
