Meadow Vista is different. Census figures for the Meadow Vista CDP show 827 of 1,285 households heating with propane. Across the wider 95722 ZIP area it is 965 of 1,712, about 56%, with only 13% on utility gas. So in most Meadow Vista homes, including along Placer Hills, Sugar Pine and Combie roads, propane runs the furnace, range and water heater. Call the office and it will tell you your delivery day. For comparison, only 7.8% of households across all of Placer County heat with propane. ## Keep Full for a propane-heated home When propane runs the furnace in a 1,700-foot town, running out on a January night is the thing to avoid. Keep Full takes that off your list: we watch outdoor temperatures and your usage history and schedule the fill before you need it. Tanks are filled to about 86% in winter and 80% in summer to leave room for the propane to expand. For a second tank on a shop or a pool heater, you can call when the gauge shows about 30% and we will usually be there within a week on the Meadow Vista route day. ## Older systems, new appliances With so many Meadow Vista homes on propane, system care matters as much as fuel. Our technicians do leak checks and pressure tests, replace regulators, handle appliance conversions and run new underground lines when a detached garage or studio goes in. We set new tanks by crane, leased or customer-owned. ## Fire district, fire hazard and shutoffs Meadow Vista is protected by the Placer Hills Fire Protection District, which also covers Applegate, Weimar, Clipper Gap and Eden Valley. Much of the land around town is State Responsibility Area that CAL FIRE maps in fire hazard severity zones, so clear dry grass and brush from around the tank each spring. Meadow Vista was on PG&E's Placer County list for the October 23, 2019 Public Safety Power Shutoff. Keep Full automatic delivery keeps the tank topped up, so a propane fireplace or wall heater that runs without power still has fuel. ## Moving to Meadow Vista Most homes here run on propane, so find out before closing whether the tank is leased or owned. A leased tank belongs to the company that set it; an owned tank transfers with the house. Call us either way. We open the account, leak check the system and schedule the first fill, and if the tank is not ours we can talk through setting one of ours or filling the one you own. ## Refills, new owners and emergencies For barbecue and RV cylinders, the dispenser at our Newcastle yard, 10290 Ophir Road, is about 20 minutes down I-80. It is open weekdays 8:00 to 4:30, closed noon to 1:00. If you are buying in Meadow Vista, ask whether the tank is leased or owned. We will set up the account, check for leaks and schedule the first fill. And if you ever smell gas, leave the building first, then call 911 and us from outside. Our answering service reaches staff after hours.
